I Suppose I Should Say Something on This…

Posted in Updates with tags , , on April 4, 2022 by chemiclord

If you don’t follow the art streams of Comfort Love and Adam Withers (and why aren’t you?) then you don’t know anything about this. So allow me to acknowledge that I am in fact working on a project for their “Uniques” universe; with a working title of “Cursed.”

It is still extremely early in the manuscript process, so I really can’t say much on specifics, other than it is a title that will be leaning fairly heavily on my early days as a wanna-be sportswriter exploring elements of their universe that they wouldn’t ever get the chance or expertise to explore.

I will say is that it’s overall conceit lies in the both over and understated nature of competitive sports in our culture, and how it weaves itself into the fabric of society and yet go unnoticed by a majority of that society. How it can influence lives, and how it really can’t.

I’m really looking forward to it, and I hope you will too.

Uh… The Isle of Donne Needs more Preparation…

I’m afraid to say, for the first time, that due to some unforeseen circumstances, The Isle of Donne is going to have to be delayed. I’ll keep you all updated when I have another date prepared.
My apologies.

Prepare for the Isle of Donne

Posted in Updates on June 19, 2019 by chemiclord

It’s definitely been longer than I wanted, and no doubt longer than anyone wanted to wait… but that wait is mercifully almost over.

The sixth and final installment of the MegaTokyo: Endgames series, The Isle of Donne, will release July 12th, 2019.  So, start stashing away those pennies!

Thank you all again for your patience.

Back to Transcendent

To anyone who knows me personally, this probably isn’t a surprise in the slightest.  With my work on MegaTokyo:Endgames wrapping up (I’ll have a release date for Isle of Donne soon, I promise), I’m back to work on a concept that has been burning in the back of my mind for the last year.

(To the four people who wanted me to go back to my “Gate” series… sorry.)

But I’m approaching Transcendent a little differently than just writing a novel.  The release structure for this series will be almost like the serials of the past (and kinda like seasons of TV shows now).

The goal is that once the series gets spinning, that I’ll release 20-30 page “episodes” that you’ll be able to buy through Amazon Kindle e-books, and after a 10-12 page “season” they’ll be compiled in book form that you’ll be able to buy for all you dead tree collectors.  I feel it will lower the bar of entry (which is what kills a lot of “new” writers), while at the same time keeping the larger novels for those who want them on their bookshelves.

And yes… these will be Kindle exclusives.  It’s admittedly a mercenary decision, as my sales from Amazon lapped Barnes and Noble and Kobo combined several times over.  For the price points I’m going to be selling these at… I’m going to need the higher cut that comes from giving the Kindle exclusive publishing.

Which brings us to price.  The plan initially is that each episode will run for $1 ($0.99 technically), and the accumulated seasons will be in the $12-$15 range.  I’m trying to keep prices down, folks.  I know it’s really hard to have much money to spend, after all.  I wish I could do better.

Anyway, I’ll keep updating as I get closer.  Still really early in development at this point, but I understand that radio silence is one of the worst things to have as a nobody writer.  Thanks for keeping in touch!

A Little Housecleaning

Posted in Updates on April 10, 2017 by chemiclord

Hey there, folks!  As you may have noticed, I’ve revamped the site a little bit in preparation for the launch of The Great Underground Empire.  The goal is that the front page won’t become completely overrun by the books as the library expands.

And no, I don’t particularly care if that would be a good thing.  You’re gonna see my grousings and grumblings.  Got it?

Prepare to Enter The Great Underground Empire…

It’s taken a while, to be sure.  Day jobs, editing, coordinating artwork… it’s all slowed down the process.  But the light at the end of the tunnel nears.

Book 5 of the MegaToyko: Endgames series, The Great Underground Empire, is currently slated for release on April 14th, 2017.  Kobo readers will also finally join in the fun of release, as it will launch right along with Kindle, Nook, and paperback editions.

Thank you all for your patience, and hopefully it won’t take quite as long to begin the trip to The Isle of Donne.

Coming Soon to Kobo!

Just a quick FYI, I am in the process of adapting my library of works to be compatible with Kobo e-readers.  Within a couple days, you all should see the fruit of those labors as the four books in the MegaTokyo:Endgames series will appear in the Kobo Store.  I’ll update my links as well as provide those links in the blog space once that happens.

Thanks for the support!

More Transcendent Teasers!

Here’s a little something-something about our heroine for you all to mull over as you await Transcendent‘s release in November.

Yes, there actually is stuff written under all that black. It will be revealed as it becomes pertinent within the story upon release, so make sure you drop in every month or so, because I might reveal clues there before they are revealed in story!

Introducing “Transcendent”…

Posted in Updates with tags , on September 4, 2016 by chemiclord

About a week and a half ago, Fred Gallagher showed me a free sketch he had made, specifically as an “iterative development” thing for me to form a story around.

It worked… very well.

So well, that by Youmacon (Nov. 3-6 in Detroit, Michigan) we should have the first “episode” of that story, titled Transcendent, ready for convention goers to look at.  At about that same time, that episode should launch on Kindle and Nook readers.

If anyone remembers the Megatokyo: Endgames short story “Behind the Masque”, that’s the sort of length, format, and pricing we’re looking at; a whopping $0.99 for each episode.  Then, as enough content is released (hopefully one episode a month), those episodes will be compiled into “seasons” and the volumes released in print for those of you who like them dead trees.

But in the meantime, whet your whistle on this short teaser of the first episode of  Transcendent.

On Going Back…

Just a minor update to report.

People who own the ebook versions of Dire Water and the Tower of Kartage might want to consider updating their copies.  There’s no content changes or anything, but the ebooks have been updated to function similar to the latter two the series with properly functional Table of Content links.

I hope you’ll like the alterations.  Going through old manuscripts and manually fixing the formatting issues that allowed me to submit my own compiled mobi and epub files was rather time consuming.
