If this book were some sort of TV-movie miniseries, I would imagine the first installment ending here. Rumil is left sitting on her bed in her room, the camera pulling back slowly to show her alone and defeated at last as the series’ ending theme starts up, and the viewers at home know that the real story is just about to begin.

What was the Baramak Slaughter? Why does Rumil have psionic potential, and what could it mean? Will Timothy’s and Justin’s alliance hold? Tune in next week for part 2 of The Second Gate!
